            Reverend Jackson is a native of Edgefield, South Carolina; the seventh of eight children; a 1976 graduate of Strom Thurmond High School in Johnston, South Carolina.  He entered the U.S. Naval Academy in July 1976, graduating in June of 1980, receiving a Bachelors of Science degree and commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy.  After commissioning, he entered flight training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL, receiving his “Wings of Gold” designation as a Naval Aviator in June of 1981.  He later received a Masters Degree in Business Management from Troy State University.

 

            While serving his country under the watchful eye of God, Reverend Jackson completed arduous duties such as conducting surveillance flight operations along the coast of North Korea, fought in the war of Desert Storm and subsequently, deployed to various locations, literally around the world.  During his career, one of his most notable achievements was his selection as the National Junior Officer of the Year in 1998.  After serving over 22 years in the U.S. Navy, God blessed him to retire at the rank of Commander and to receive the Meritorious Service Medal while serving at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in November 2002, where he is currently government employee assigned as the Director of Logistics for the P-3 Orion Aircraft Program Office. 

 

            Reverend Jackson gave his life to Christ in August 1978 in while visiting New Jersey during an intense prayer session attended by his brother Toney and a close friend.  He has been on this spiritual journey every since, serving God in numerous capacities. As he continued his spiritual walk with God, he received his Ordained Candidacy Continuance Certification in 2016.

Rev. Bruce K. Jackson, Sr.

            Reverend Jackson truly believes in children and youth development and assisting within the community. He has served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate Mentor, Assistance Little League Baseball coach, Pop Warner Football coach, and Cub Scout Assistance Den Leader.  He is the founder and President of Southern Maryland Youth Ministries, the sponsor of the Annual “Keepin’ It Real” Youth Rally.  He is an Adjunct Professor and educator at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  In addition, Reverend Jackson has previously served as Assistant Pastor at Zion UMC, Church Administrator, Administrative Council Chair, Men’s Ministry Chair, Adult Sunday School and weekly Bible Study facilitator, founder and facilitator of the Quarterly “Cross Pollination” Bible Study program.

 

            Reverend Jackson is a man who allows God to lead his life.  If you have been around him, you have probably heard him share three things that God has place in his heart – 1) We are blessed to be a blessing; 2) In any situation, always ask yourself, “how would Christ handle it?”; and 3) We should love one another as Christ loves us.

 

            He is married to the former Brenda Reynolds of Pensacola, Florida and the proud father of six beautiful children.
